CHRISTMAS is a Special Gathering Time
for the Community centred in Piopio
Christmas is fast approaching and along with it comes Piopio's Annual Christmas Parade. so now’s the time to get together and organise yourselves for this popular and fun-filled event.
This year we would like to welcome more participation with
" Floats on Foot".
The criteria is - those on foot must be in costume representing their particular club or group.
eg: Kapa Haka, Bowls, Tennis, Hockey, Netball, Rugby, Swimming, Schools, Dog Clubs, Local area Halls,
Rec Centre, Rowing, ........bla,bla,bla
Think about perhaps what makes your group significant within the community.
Piopio has been the core area for many great people and groups, so it would be fantastic to recognise and celebrate all the little pockets about the area.
CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT
WEDNESDAY 19th December
8pm @ the " VILLAGE GREEN"
A reflective and enjoyable evening for everyone, please bring along your candles, and great festive voices !!!! Lets make this an annual event for all of the community.
Song sheets will be provided,
and musical talent to help us lead the way.
The Memorial Hall will be open afterwards for those who may like to have a cuppa. Tea and coffee will be provided. Feel free to bring along a plate, should you decide to stay for a drink.
Christmas Parade, 24th December
Floats are to congregate at Kara Park 6.30pm for judging.
The Parade starts at 7pm.

* "Piopio" was originally a Maori family's name for a small part of their farm, after a failed potato crop. Using the name for the whole district came about by confusion when Pakeha settlers came.
