Piopio is midway between anywhere and anywhere else.
The travelling public refuel, park easily, admire the Big Art, relax
in our parks, and visit cafes, Times Past Antiques & Collectables,
the Alpaca Shop, and Information & Art Gallery.
Our township nestles amongst Beautiful Scenery.
Water has carved the Limestone over the ages, creating huge bluffs,
caves, overhangs, natural bridges and layered rockforms.

Rivers, passages between hills, and consequently our roads, are rarely straight for long.
We always enjoy driving from Piopio to Te Kuiti, or daytrips to waterfalls, beaches, Mt Ruapehu...
Orange, red, and gold trees paint the autumn landscape.
Native Kahikatea (white pine) with buttressed trunks dominate the flat land near rivers.
Pungas (Tree ferns) and Nikau Palms crowd some hillsides.
We love it.
